(06/02/2001) -- An L-1011 aircraft called the Stargazer is parked after landing at the Skid Strip, Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. Underneath its belly it carries the Orbital Sciences Corp. Pegasus XL launch vehicle with the High Energy Solar Spectroscopic Imager (HESSI) attached. The Pegasus XL will launch the HESSI no earlier than June 12 from CCAFS. The primary mission of HESSI is to explore the basic physics of particle acceleration and energy release in solar flares
